Have you ever wondered why our blog is named "The Disappointed Flower"? Let us share the story behind this intriguing name.
It all started with a line from the 1969 film, That Summer, that resonated deeply. In the film, (which preceded the better known documentary, Gray Gardens) "Little" Edie Beale openly mentions a beautiful chair which she bought on sale at Bloomingdales, describing it as "the disappointed chair." This phrase stuck with me, capturing the essence of beauty that doesn't quite meet expectations.
In the world of plants, we often associate flowers with vibrant colors and delicate petals. However, there's a different kind of beauty in plants such as succulents and cacti. They may not boast traditional floral characteristics, but their resilience, unique forms, and subtle charm are captivating in their own right. Just like Edie Beale, her mother, and the story of Grey Gardens.
"The Disappointed Flower" is dedicated to the idea that beauty is not always what we expect, but it's there, waiting to be revealed and appreciated.
Join us on our journey of discovering and celebrating the unconventional beauty of plants, especially our beloved succulents.
