Life as a hospital executive was a whirlwind of high-stakes decisions, relentless demands, and ceaseless pressures. Reporting to the CEO, the board, and the corporate CFO meant navigating a complex web of expectations.
But this newfound status came at a cost: it left little room for personal fulfillment.
My ego took full control, and I became "Jon the CFO," a persona defined by professional accomplishments rather than personal authenticity. The genuine Jon, with a passion for plants and a desire for meaningful connections, was buried under layers of corporate identity. I wasn’t just Jon; I was, "Jon Giese, CFO" a title that brought prestige — but also isolation.
Building a life on such shaky foundations was destined to fail. When my facade began to crumble, the fall was devastating. I lost friends

who were more interested in my position than in me as a person. The realization was harsh: they liked me because I controlled the budget, not because of who I truly was.
This downfall forced me to confront my deepest insecurities and rebuild my identity from the ground up. It was a tough journey of self-discovery, but it allowed me to see myself for who I truly was. I realized I didn't want to return to the superficiality of my past life. I had to redefine success on my terms and find a path that resonated with my soul.
Today, as the owner of a small plant shop, my life couldn’t be more different. I’ve transitioned from managing a $100 million budget and overseeing 1,700 employees to running a quaint shop where I’m HR, payroll manager, and hands-on worker. The pressures are still there, but they are more personal and—paradoxically—more fulfilling.
Now, I help people connect with the beauty of plants. Each plant is a unique living specimen, and I create breathtaking arrangements that bring joy and serenity to my customers. The people who come into my shop genuinely appreciate my work and seek my expertise to transform their homes and offices into spaces that reflect their inner joy and soul.
Despite the joy, the stress of my previous life occasionally seeps into my current one. It’s a reminder of the importance of loving what you do. If you’re unhappy in your current role, I encourage you to step back and reassess. If your work doesn’t bring you joy, make a change. Trust that the universe will support you in finding your true calling.
In our world, many people chase money, losing sight of what truly matters. Money carries a unique energy, and how we use it reflects our inner values. Some use it for good, like buying plants and bringing beauty into their lives, while others may use it destructively. The energy of money can shape our lives in profound ways.
Life’s too short to stay in a role that doesn’t bring joy. Discover what excites you and let that passion lead the way.

Super random but thank you so much for the help charging my rental car last night. I think I’d probably still be sitting in the lot if you hadn’t come along!
